I’ve not gone silent on this gov’t, some NPP folks don’t even talk to me- Yvonne Nelson

I was seeking refuge in a friend's house due to threats after leading ''Dumsor Vigil''-Yvonne Nelson

Despite public opinion that actress Yvonne Nelson has gone silent on the current ruling party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), she begs to differ.

The Movie Producer in an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM today, explained that she criticises the NPP government as she did with the NDC government when they were in power a couple of years ago.

Yvonne, who organised and championed the “Dumsor Must Go Vigil” in 2015 to protest over 3 years energy crisis in the country stated that she got the attention of Ghanaians because her tweets about the crisis got traction on social media.

“When I tweeted “Dumsor must stop” which was affecting all of us, it was trending on Twitter. That’s how come I took it onto the streets,” Yvonne told Nana Romeo.

According to Yvonne, her tweets about the current government are not trending as before, hence the reason people think she’s gone silent.

“…so if I talk about something on Twitter and it doesn’t trend and people don’t interact with it like the one from before, how do I get people to rally behind me to do whatever. So I have always been talking about politicians, always, I talk about the President all the time. If something is going wrong, I tweet about it. So this whole, NPP government is in and you have gone quiet is strange to me,” she explained.

Yvonne also made a shocking revelation that some people in the NPP have stopped talking to her because of her tweets against the government.

“People in the NPP do not even talk to me anymore because of my tweets. Sometimes when I tweet I have people in the NPP sending me long messages to explain. So I’ve never been quiet about this government,” she added.

When asked by host Nana Romeo to rate the government’s performance, Yvonne stated that all the leaders. Ghana has had since independence have done the country a disservice.

“All the governments are the same, from Nkrumah’s time,” she stated.
