Jimmy Jean-Louis joins cast of Jerry Lamothe’s The Promise Keeper

According to reports, Haitian actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, Jamie Hector, Golden globe winner S. Epatha Merkerson, are in talks to star in Jerry Lamothe’s indie drama, ‘The Promise Keeper’. The Promise Keeper is a suspense drama about two childhood-best-friends from Flatbush, Brooklyn, which spans over two decades, which showcases the vastly different directions they each take in life. When one gets deported back to Haiti, the other takes his first ever visit to the island, in search of answers, only months after the tragic earthquake that devastates the country. LaMothe’s last feature-length project was 2007′s blackout-set drama titled Blackout, which starred Jeffrey Wright, Zoe Saldana, Saul Rubinek, Melvin Van Peebles, Jamie Hector and others. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Principle photography on the Haiti/Brooklyn drama is slated to begin early next year, in New York and Haiti. Jean-Louis, best known for his role as “The Haitian” on the NBC hit series Heroes, continues to rack awards, for his poignant portrayal of the 17th century revolutionary who led the Haitian independence from France, in the epic bio Toussaint Louverture. The Toussaint Louverture movie grabbed two more awards from the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival including Best Actor Award and the People’s choice Award. This will be Jamie Hector’s second collaboration with LaMothe, following Blackout. Hector, who’s known for his portrayal of Marlo Stanfield on the critically acclaimed HBO series “The Wire,” can next be seen in the upcoming drama, “Blood Ties,” starring Mila Kunis, Marion Cotillard, James Caan, and Clive Owen. An Emmy and Golden Globe winner for her portrayal of Nanny Crosby in HBO’s “Lackawanna Blues,” Ms. Merkerson is best known for her 16 year presence as Lt. Anita Van Buren on the hit series “Law and Order“. She can be seen in Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln and the upcoming films We The Peeples and The Challenger with the late Michael Clarke Duncan.  ]]>
