Even before I continue I must warn you that this is not some adventure story like ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ and no Joeseph Quashie is not a celebrity or an artist of any kind. He is a friend from the UK who visited Ghana during the Christmas Holidays – yes he is one of the bunch that promised to get me a BlackBerry phone this Xmas only to lose it to the airport staff, hmm!

Anyway, while in Accra, Joseph wanted to attend Citi FM’s “Decemba 2 Rememba’ and so I got him a press pass to attend the event as a correspondent for www.ameyawdebrah.com. Of course I got myself a ticket to attend the show myself just in case..! While enjoying the performances, I looked around to see what my ‘reporter’ was up to, and to my surprise saw him enjoying the night in the company of a beautiful young lady. At least I must thank Joseph for showing me that is possible to go on assignment and bring along a ‘date’ as well. I hope to do that more often in 2011 so event organizers start giving me double tickets/passes!

After the fun was over Joseph who has been wanting a column on www.ameyawdebrah.com had to file in his report. Check the following report out and let me know if my job is safe:

The much-anticipated ‘December to Remember’ organized by Citi FM kicked off with ‘disc jockeying’ from one of radio station’s top DJs (can’t blame Joey, he doesn’t live in Ghana so doesn’t know names). The main performances kicked off around 9:25pm with a small boy rapper Dee-Cee, spitting non-stop rap to Gyptian’s ‘Hold Yuh’ instrumentals. He then followed with another tune to introduce who he really is!

The MCs for the night Ommar, Armani and Jessica then came on stage to welcome guests with short performance of the hit song ‘Win Win’ by DJ khaled. Once the show started proper, there were back to back performances from the likes of Melanee winner of Citi FM’s Voice Factory singing contest. She was followed by a performance by the previous winner of the contest, Fritz. His rendition of ‘Knock You Down’ by Keri Hilson certainly excited the crowd. Rapper, Guru joined Fritz on stage and later took over from Fritz with his dupe tunes including ‘Democracy’.

Then came Bra Kevin Beats and Lil Shaker, who were later joined by Gemini (all of Sneeze on Them fame). Bra Kevin Beats’ most anticipated ‘3 Headed Beast’ was not performed!

After the hot new acts came the more established folks like R2bees, Asem with Zigi, OJ Blaq, Kweku T, and Tinny. Veteran comedian, Super OD made a brief appearance before singer Kwabena Kwabena took up the stage. There was more comedy with Nigerian standup Bash and the music continued Ofori Amponsah, 4×4, 5five and the show stoppers p Praye!

I guess I am safe to assume that my job is safe. I’m so glad I didn’t have to pay Joseph for this! He has since to return to his regular job in the UK – Thank Goodness!
