Justin Bieber tops 2012 American Music Awards

Published

justin Bieber american music awards show 002 4 3 r560Teen singer Justin Bieber dominated the American Music Awards on Sunday night including the show’s top award, artist of the year. His mom joined him onstage as he collected the trophy, beating out Rihanna, Maroon 5, Katy Perry and Drake. “I wanted to thank you for always believing in me,” Bieber said, looking to his mom. The 18-year-old also won the honor in 2010. He said it’s “hard growing up with everyone watching me” and asked that people continue to believe in him. Bieber and Nicki Minaj performed together — and separately — at the AMAs, and were both multiple winners. But another collaboration was the night’s most colorful performance: Korean rapper PSY and MC Hammer. Hammer joined the buzzed-about pop star for his viral hit Gangnam Style. PSY rocked traditional “Hammer” pants as they danced to his jam and to Hammer’s Too Legit to Quit. Winners of the 40th anniversary American Music Awards Artist of the year: Justin Bieber New artist of the year: Carly Rae Jepsen Pop/rock female artist: Katy Perry Pop/rock male artist: Justin Bieber Pop/rock band, duo or group: Maroon 5 Pop/rock album: Justin Bieber, Believe Country female artist: Taylor Swift Country male artist: Luke Bryan Country band, duo or group: Lady Antebellum Country album: Carrie Underwood, Blown Away Rap/hip-hop artist: Nicki Minaj Rap/hip-hop album: Nicki Minaj, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded Soul/R&B female artist: Beyonce Soul/R&B male artist: Usher Soul/R&B album: Rihanna, Talk That Talk Alternative rock artist: Linkin Park Adult contemporary artist: Adele Latin artist: Shakira Contemporary inspirational artist: tobyMac Electronic dance music artist: David Guetta]]>

aBaby (South Coast Music Group/Interscope Records) is feeling the Christmas spirit with a brand new video for his breakaway hit “NO FINSTA.” The holiday-themed visual directed by DaBaby takes inspiration from the classic film Friday After Next and finds the Charlotte, North Carolina native serving as a host for a Christmas house party filled with guests wearing Santa hats and spreading Yuletide cheer. Several special guests make appearances at DaBaby’s holiday party including Jack Funny, Robert “Champ” Wilmote, Funny Marco, Clayton Williams, and Eddie “Uncle Daddy” Harris.
WATCH HERE.
The song is a part of the rapper’s latest three-pack EP titled LET’S DO IT which released in October and features two other singles in “CRASH THE JEEP” and “D!CK.” DaBaby’s previous three-pack EP, CALL DA FIREMAN contained the smash hit single “SHAKE SUMN,” which became his sixth No. 1 song after it topped the Urban Radio chart. It also peaked at No. 11, No. 18, and No. 65 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and Hot 100 charts, respectively.
Recently, DaBaby was recognized at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards as he received nominations for Best Live Performer, Best Hip-Hop Video, and Video Director of the Year alongside Reel Goats. He’s also been quite busy hitting the interview circuit thanks to stellar conversations with Trevor Noah on his show What Now? With Trevor Noah and Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast.

Shazam hits 300 million monthly active users worldwide

Published

unnamed 5 3

Apple today announced that Shazam has surpassed 300 million monthly active users worldwide, with more people than ever before using the app to discover the music they love.

Throughout the years, the music industry has relied on a number of signals to answer the question of what the world is listening to. And for the past 20 years, Shazam has been one of the earliest and strongest signals — and it’s one that’s growing even stronger.

With an increasingly global user base, Shazam is getting even better at truly answering what the world is listening to. African countries have been some of the fastest growing user bases on Shazam, and African genres have been some of the fastest growing genres, with many African songs topping the yearly global charts. On the Top 100 2023: Shazam chart, Rema’s “Calm Down” takes No. 1 after spending more time atop the global Shazam chart over the past year than any other song. “‘Finding’ takes strength and passion,” Rema tells Apple Music. “To everyone who took the energy to find this song I hope it’s giving you joy wherever you are today and I hope it sounds as beautiful as the first day you heard it.”
Ayra Starr also ends the year in the top 10 of the Top 100 2023: Shazam as she becomes one of Nigeria’s most-Shazamed artists.

The global reach of K-Pop has continued to increase on Shazam, and the app’s user numbers have also seen a notable growth in Korea. More K-Pop songs have made it to the Shazam global charts in 2023 than in any previous year, with emerging band FIFTY FIFTY reaching No. 3 on the Shazam global charts, marking the first time a K-Pop act other than BTS or one of its members has charted this high. Música Mexicana has also seen significant growth in the last 12 months, with the only five tracks from this genre to enter the US Shazam top 10 all doing so within the last year.

One of the longest-standing apps on the App Store, Shazam has also continued to innovate and introduce a number of new features to make it easier for users to discover music no matter how or where they are listening. Most recently, Shazam unveiled Concerts, a new space in the app where music fans can discover upcoming concerts that are happening in their area, providing personalized event recommendations based on their Shazam history or popular events around them. Fans can also discover events by filtering location, date and artists.
