Koby Maxwell launches album and celebrates African Women

He was also joined by friends from the entertainment industry to celebrate the 59th independence of his nation Ghana while honoring women of African descent in the American Diaspora. The well attended event offered guests an opportunity to learn more about the African entertainment and fashion industry, its culture, history and how they positively impact the USA and beyond. Koby Maxwell, a Ghanaian movie producer, director, musician, and actor has been celebrating the independence of Ghana in the American diaspora since 2013. In an interview with TheAfricanDream.net the Ghanaian entertainer who is also CEO of Koby Maxwell Productions (KMP); a production house for movies, music shows and event organization disclosed that “this year the event decided to highlight the launch of my fifth studio album and award the efforts of African Women of Influence in the Community. This is in line with the annual observance of Women’s History Month in the USA which highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society that also coincides with International Women’s Day on March 8.” Koby Maxwell honors women As a result, 9 women were awarded on the night of the event by KMP in recognition of their respective contributions to uplift lives in the diaspora. They awardees were Lady Kate Ndi, Hawa Barry, Dr. Joy Davis, Betelhem Negusse and Christine Nkwain. The rest were Marie-Rosie Sirikari, Mawinny Casey, Kamah Thoronka and Ivy Anne NW Abuku. Other accomplished women among guests included Mahlet Hailemichael; the North America Diaspora Manager for Western Union, Ama K. Abebrese; award winning Ghanaian actress, M’Mah Camara; reigning Miss Guinea/North America and Ivy Akosua Amankwaa Preko; Miss Ghana U.S.A 2015. Lucy Korma, the Administrative and Clinical Director of Muna’s Heart Nursing Services in Maryland USA who was an event sponsor said she was very happy to see some of her sisters in the diaspora recognized for the hard work by KMP. “I know this will serve as a great motivation to a lot others out there who we hope to acknowledge come next year” Lucy said. South Africa Airways, and Ethiopian Airlines were two of the event’s primary sponsors while TheAfricanDream.net, Voice of America, and The Afrikan Post were some of the U.S.A. based media partners for the event. Chris Attoh, an actor, movie producer/director and TV personality from Ghana hosted the night’s event alongside Tulip, a Ghanaian female radio personality in Northern Virginia, USA. Some new projects KMP is working on for 2016 are ‘Africa’s Most Beautiful In The Diaspora’ beauty pageant and ‘Nollyhot TV’, an entertainment show in the US about the African entertainment and movie industry.
