Kontihene Sankofa Kontihene has quit his church after the church criticized the dressing of a visitor. According to a Joy FM report, the artiste who has fellowshipped with the church for 10 years, said he was not amused by the action of the church after they insisted on moving the new member to the back or even ask her to leave the premises based on her dressing. Although he won’t mention the name of the church, the ‘Asesa’hit rapper revealed in an interview on Joy FM that he felt the decision was wrong judgement on the part of the church. “The church was trying to play God. I invited someone to church and they wanted the person to get out of the church because the person wasn’t well dressed,” he explained. “The person has strong legs and the person was wearing something that the legs were showing,” a not too happy Kontihene added. Narrating further what transpired, he said, “They were saying the person cannot sit there, the person has to go back. I was like the person came here to communicate with God in her heart, I mean we are not here for fashion or anything.” According to the rapper, some persons in the church “insisted, they kept pushing it and I told the person, ‘let’s get out of this place because God is not here, its people who are just judging by what they see.’” Asked how long he had been worshipping with the church, Kontihene revealed that “I’ve been going there for the past ten years but I walked off on [Sunday].”]]>

Police brutality is slapping someone cooperating and already in cuffs – musician NY Melody

The Ghana Police Service arrested 29 people on Tuesday after dispersing a violent anti-cost protest in Accra with tear gas. The protest took a turn for the worse when protesters engaged in a violent exchange with police, injuring 12 officers and leading to the arrest of some of the protesters.

Following the incident, many Ghanaians, both inside and outside the country, have come out to condemn the police and protesters’ violent actions.

One video that went viral from the incident showed a police officer beating a handcuffed protester who was clearly not resisting arrest. The video sparked an online outrage, with “Be My Love” singer NY Melody among those quick to condemn the officer’s actions.

The musician later posted a video in which he expressed his disappointment at seeing the video. For him, the police officer was abusing his authority, and slapping someone who was already handcuffed was completely unnecessary.

“We live in a democracy, and in a democracy, we have the right to demonstrate when something bothers us.” The police, also known as “Peace Officers,” are supposed to keep the peace and order no matter what environment they are in.”

Imagine what would have happened if the protesters had retaliated in response to the slap. The cops should have known better; they should have some emotional intelligence. “Police brutality is slapping someone already in cuffs who isn’t resisting arrest.” he said.
