The manager of Ghanaian highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena, Nana Poku Ashis, has confirmed that his artiste, Kwabena Kwabena did not submit his music for nomination in this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).

602 teachers participate in the 12th teaching & learning conference at the Lincoln Community school.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s weekend Entertainment Hall show, Ashis claimed that the ‘Adult Music’ hitmaker had recognized some issues with the award scheme over the years that are still been repeated in recent VGMA events.

Mr. Ashis disclosed that among other issues, Kwabena Kwabena believes that artistes or their management should not also personally file nominations before their works are recognised by the scheme, they should write to the artists sometimes.

‘‘He feels like the board did certain things that wasn’t right in his own standpoint, looking for the artists and writing to them for nominations, he has a different opinion towards all this nominations saga.

‘‘We didn’t file for VGMA. For some reason, Kwabena Kwabena made some comments in the previous years, so he just wanted to stay away. He says some things weren’t going well. Looking for the artiste and writing emails and things didn’t sit well with him,” Kwabena Kwabena’s manager said.

The artiste manager added that Kwabena Kwabena doesn’t believe that as an artiste he is not supposed to file, and he thinks the older musicians like, Kojo Antwi and Daddy Lumba are not given the privilege to be celebrated and recognized anymore.

Ashis further stated that Kwabena Kwabena would return to the scheme when things are done right.

“He wants to stay back and soon when he thinks things are done well he will be back,” Ashis added.
