Nana Kwame Sarpong Frimpong-Badu, stage name ” Kwame Toaker ” was Born in Accra on the 24th March, 1990, and is the 5th child of 7 children. He grew up in Dome, a suburb of Accra where schooled in Achimota Preparatory School through his primary and Junior High ( where Sarkodie was my Senior ) and had his Senior High Schooling in Achimota School. Music has always been apart of his family, from my Grandfather AK Badu the Owner of Ambassador Records Manufacturing Company, to my father Kofi F-Badu, the first general manager of Ambassador Records Manufacturing Company and a New York based High-life Producer for Legends like, Kwame Ampadu, Atakora Manu, Omintriminim, Elder Osei-Bonsu and others.
Toaker started music at the age of 13 with performances throughout his Junior High. First Song he ever record was called ” Talk is Cheap ” This was when he was 13 years old. ” It’s a funny story how I recorded it, because, I recorded myself with my Home PC. ” The Rapper said. ” The Mic used was home made my yours truly and it was made out of an old speaker part and some wires connecting it to my pc. Using the regular sound recorder on my PC , I recorded the full song in one take after then I burnt it on a CD and shared it with friends and school mates. ” He realesed his first mixtape at 16 years in 2006 with free CDs in his High School and on “myspace.com” at that time called ” Da Beginnin’ ” All under his former stage name K-Tee. Around this time, he had always been trying his hands on new stuff and he was able to master the use of some beat making programs. With that he started to make beats and collaborate with his childhood friend Ear drum Beats. He was always recorded with brainy beats. In 2008, he had a 1 year development deal, which was cut short due to contract conflicts, but still resulted in the street Anthem ” Behind the PC ” After High School I decided to take Music seriously as a career and rebranded myself as Kwame Toaker. Giving out the full meaning of ” K-Tee “. Kwame Toaker’s style of music is mainly Hip Hop, but is versatile enough to make R&B, Afro-Pop, and a bit of Dancehall music.
His musical influences are his surroundings, his experiences and his lifestyle. The rapper revealed saying ” I have been influenced by foreign artists such as Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne. But my local influences include, Obrafour, Sarkodie and Reggie Rockstone. But he is determined to create his own style and identity that would, one day, be loved and revered by fans and the world.Past works from SHS mixtapes and my Street Mixtapes after School include hits like; We Ballin, Behind the PC, Balling Like A Big Dawg, I Am, To The Sky, and countless freestyles all available online on myspace & Youtube. Kwame Toaker has established his own Independent Record label in 2014 and released my current works now, which include, Love with an Alien, SupaHigh Toaker, Toaker Party, Bukom Whip Ayitey and Sexy Assassin and more, which are currently enjoying Urban Radio Airplay.
In an Interview the Rapper said his future works consists of the release of my Debut Street Album ” Toaker Xprezz ” which features the Single Lighters. There are Clothing and merchandises also due for release. The project is due for release on official around the country & Itunes later on in the Year. The SupaHigh Toaker told fans that they should expect nothing but the best music that entertains them and expresses their desires, feelings, emotions, likes and experiences that translates what and who a Toaker really is.
