LeFlyyy names his top 5 Ghanaian rappers – Omar Sterling and Sarkodie on the list

Fast-rising Ghanaian afrobeats musician LeFlyyy has named his top five local rappers.

The “My Baby” in an interview with Pulse.com.gh last month named his five favourite Ghanaian rappers: Omar Sterling, Sarkodie, Kwesi Arthur, Medikal and Amerado.

He says he appreciates their style and vibes on why they are his favourite.

“Top five [rappers] in no order, I would say I like Paedae (Omar Sterling) from R2Bees, I like Sarkodie, Kwesi Arthur, Medikal, and Amerado,” he disclosed.

The Fly Entertainment Family label frontman also disclosed that the ‘support your own’ mantra won’t materialise if mainstream musicians don’t support the up and coming musicians.

For some time now, Ghanaian musicians have been lamenting the lack of support from Ghanaians – a reason some good talent are yet to cross over.

But Leflyyy says that is not the case. For mainstream musicians to gain support from Ghanaians, they should equally support the up and coming talents.

Leflyyy disclosed this during an interview with Pulse.com.gh last month.

“Everybody talks about support but it starts from somewhere,” he said, “I personally feel that those that are up there should help those that are coming. So that when those coming up get there, they will help the up and coming ones.”

He said if the mainstream musicians are able to support the new talents, it will break the cycle of rising musicians having to do everything by themselves to get to the top.

“So that we will break that cycle of ‘I did it by myself’ or ‘I didn’t have somebody,’ and I pushed so you too push [alone]. No, it’s unfortunate you did it like that but that doesn’t mean the person coming up should go through the same channel.”

Leflyyy, who can rap in four different languages (Twi, Ga, French and English), said his main market is the African and European continents.

“My urgent target is obviously Ghana, and the French-speaking countries and also Europe. But the main focus is here; the continent, the motherland, Ghana and Africa.”

Dedebah releases ‘Have Fun With it’

Published

Hip-hop is one of the most loved musical genres in the world and Ghana is no exception to this rule and as the music keeps evolving, so do the creative artists behind the songs. Dedebah is one of the first names that come to mind when the topic in discussion is “Ghanaian Female Rappers”. Dedebah is a very versatile rapper who does not shy away from any challenge. Her sound has gained massive recognition from top blogs and major industry players including hip-hop heavyweights Sarkodie, Medikal, amongst others.

Dedebah is at the pinnacle of her career where she deems it a necessity to give her fans a full body project instead of the occasional singles. Last year she took to social media to announce her maiden EP dubbed “Bosompemaa”. The anticipation for this project has gone through the roof with fans being eager to get their hands on this EP. The African Rap Diva decided to stop fans from lingering anymore by putting out the first major single off the “Bosompemaa EP” titled “Have Fun With It”.

“Have Fun With It” is a groovy hip-hop song with a very catchy and melodic hook. In the first verse she shows off her lyrical prowess. She can be heard saying in local dialect twi “Bosompemaa, mey3 ohemaa” which is simply to remind the listener of the Queen that she is, with no other person being at par with her. The song is produced by Riddim Boss and the video was shot by Director Banitchi.

Stream and enjoy !!
