leila djansiAward-winning Ghanaian filmmaker, Leila Djansi has announced that she will be producing an indie drama, ‘37’ which stars a stellar cast of Hollywood actors including Academy Award nominated actor Bruce Davison.  Davison first gained attention for playing the title role in the 1971 film Willard, and has since become known for his roles in such films as X-Men, Short Cuts, and Longtime Companion, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 1991. He is also known for his regular and recurring roles in such television series as Hunter, Harry and the Hendersons, The Practice, Cold Case, and the current Knight Rider. In addition to his Oscar nomination, he is the recipient of such accolades as two Golden Globes, an Independent Spirit Award, and an Emmy Award nomination. Bruce Davison is not the only known name on the project; other names include Scott Wolf (‘Go, Everwood’) and Greg Lauren (‘Batman Forever’, ‘The wedding Planner’). Casting is still ongoing and the project is set to take off later in the fall. The film will be directed by Randall Batinkoff who starred in Leila Djansi’s award winning film, ‘Ties That Bind’ which was acquired for distribution by indie giants Image Entertainment in the summer. This marks  his directorial debut and he also plays the lead role of Adam, a rocker who makes a pact to kill himself when he turns 37. Several months before his 37th birthday and the release of his comeback album, he meets and falls in love with Jemma, a terminally ill woman. Bruce Davison will play the role of ‘the Psychic’ who helps Adam find peace with himself. Djansi is excited to return to producing and said, “This is what gets your adrenaline pumping; producing, putting all the pieces together, cast, crew, production elements. And I’m excited to work with Randall again.” Hollywood’s trade news agency, Variety Entertainment, announced the project and ‘37’ will be released in the summer of 2013.]]>
