Leila Djansi’s #40andSingle wins Audience Award at 2018 LA Film Festival

Ghanaian movie producer, writer and director Leila Afua Djansi has been making big moves in Hollywood and the international film community. Her latest movie #40andSingle which had its world premier at this year’s La Film Festival held in Culver City, California, picked up the award for Audience Award for Episodic Pilot.

40 and Single was first premiered at the 2018 Urbanworld Film Festival on September 22 making it two Ghana/USA films to be premiered at the Urbanworld Film Festival with the other one being ‘The Burial Of Kojo’.

The movie features Ghana’s Joselyn Dumas, Nikki Samonas, Adjetey Annan, Marie Humbert-Droz, Rama Brew and international acts like Vanessa Williams, Leon Robinson, Miranda Bailey, John Savage, Deon Mattews, and several others. Walking the LA Film Festival red carpet for the movie premier, some members of the cast came out looking fly!

Leila Djansi’s #40andSingle wins Audience Award at 2018 LA Film Festival

This not the first time Leila’s work has received international recognition, her third directorial movie Ties That Bind received a Black Reel Awards Nomination in 2012 and also won the Best Diaspora film at the 2012 San Diego Black Film Festival.
