It appears that former hiplife group, Echo member Elijah may have to put his solo career as E-Nice on hold until he has sorted out the legal implications of his split from the group. William Adu Boateng, CEO of UK based label, LeoBoy Entertainment, has expressed his displeasure at the conduct of Elijah, calling it disrespectful and unprofessional.
In May 2010, the group officially signed a two-year deal with LeoBoy Entertainment after their Nescafe African Revelation contract with Abraham Ohene Djan’s OM Studios had expired. According to Mr Adu Boateng, Elijah did not even have the courtesy to tell him that he was leaving the group to pursue a solo career, thereby disregarding and disrespecting the two- year contract between the two parties. He explained that the behavior was a breach of contract since Elijah is still signed to his label till May 2012. He warned Elijah and any other label that may want to sign Elijah, to be aware of the existing contract and act accordingly.
He comments: “My label has invested in music videos, clothes, studio time, media promotions and so on. I feel very disappointed and very angry at the moment because Elijah didn’t respect the label that signed him and took care of him.”
“Echo was supposed to be the face of my clothing line Leowear because that was part of the deal we gave them. We had a two-year deal under LeoBoy from May last year to next May next year. As far as my management is aware, Echo which comprises Charles and Elijah is with LeoBoy till next year and we have got paper work to prove it. So if any label signs Elijah I will sue them big time including Elijah himself, even if I have to get my lawyers from London to Accra to deal with the matter.”
