London Olympics wrap-up: how Africa matched up on the medal tally!

62220799 62220798Although Ghana was down on her luck at the London 2012 Olympics, Africa was done proud by the likes of South Africa, Kenya, Ehiopia and other who managed to arrive at the party for medals.  South Africa won 6 medals, Ethiopia 7 and Kenya 11 medals. Some of Africa’s highlight included Uganda’s Stephen Kiprotich winning the Olympic men’s marathon, beating Kenya’s Abel Kirui and Wilson Kipsang. This was the first gold for Uganda since 1972. Uganda’s last Olympic champion was 400m hurdler John Akii-Bua, who won gold at Munich in 1972.
