ludacris in GhanaTop American rapper, Ludacris has been announced as the headlining act for the third edition of one of Ghana’s most anticipated annual music concerts, Vodafone 020 Live!  He will be performing alongside award winning African acts including Sarkodie, 4×4 and Naeto C, as well as Vodafone Icons winners Black n Peach on 29 September at The Dome.  020 live gets bigger this year with a regional concert in Kumasi by some of the artistes the weekend before the main concert in Accra.

The annual concert, which is in its third year, has gotten bigger and better each year and is expected to take entertainment to the next level.  Music fans will be guaranteed a night to remember with performances by three of Africa’s most awarded music artistes and Ludacris, one of the best live performers in the US.  Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2012 (VGMA) winners 4×4 and Sarkodie in the Best Group and Artiste of the Year respectively, are returning to the 020 Live stage for the second time after they both rocked the stage in the first 020 Live concert.  Fans of these artistes will see them in a new light as they take to the 020 Live stage and justify beyond all doubt their status as Africa’s best musicians.  Black n Peach will be performing on the 020 Live stage in their first public performance since winning Vodafone Icon.

Uche Ofodile, the Chief Marketing Officer for Vodafone Ghana commented on Vodafone’s approach to 020 Live this year. ‘We are truly excited about the line-up for this year’s concert.  We have gathered in one night and on one stage the best African talent and proven performers to give Ghanaians the concert of a lifetime.  Sarkodie has been confirmed as a true international act with his latest award as Best International Act at the BET Awards and Ludacris is a fantastic performer – fans are guaranteed to have a blast when he’s on stage.  4×4 have won several awards in Ghana and have thrilled their fans with every one of their performances and Naeto C is a huge act in Nigeria and has proved to have a great presence on stage.  We believe that in focusing on four big acts for 020 Live we are taking concerts in Ghana to a new level.’

Vodafone is guaranteeing fans have a great time at 020 Live by giving the artistes resources that will allow them to express themselves artistically so that they can give their fans what they want on the night.  Sarkodie and 4×4 will work with multi-talented music producer, programmer and instrumentalist, Kwame Yeboah to produce their performance which will see them performing live to a live band.  The internationally renowned producer has worked with legends such as Stevie Wonder, Cat Stevens, Osibisa, Craig David, Becca, Amakye Dede and Tom Jones to name a few.

Uche Ofodile further added that ‘020 Live has evolved since we started it three years ago and we’re very proud of the impact it has had on the concert scene in Ghana.  The experience of music fans is the first thing we consider when we think about 020 Live and I am certain that this year the experience will be unparalleled.  People can expect an award winning concert this year.

Information on ticket sales for both concerts will be released closer to the concert date

Steve Stoute, Founder and CEO of UnitedMasters states, “Over the last 2 years, we’ve proven our commitment to Africa investing in artists, education, and technology. Today, we are doubling down. With this new venture with Davido & the launch of Nine Plus Records, we reinforce our mission in becoming a bridge for artists on the continent. Together we’ll identify & develop new artists while supporting them with brand and synch opportunities.”

Nine+ Records will be announcing more artists and partners in the future.

Last night, Davido just sold out one of the most iconic venues in the world, headlining Madison Square Garden in New York City. He ignited the stage with what will be remembered as a historic set, bringing Afrobeats to the Big Apple in the biggest way possible. In advance of the show, he extensively spoke to Billboard who praised how “Performing in New York has also become a special ritual” for him.

This news also arrives on the heels of various major company announcements for UnitedMasters. The company locked down a high-profile alliance with SymphonyOS and Groover. Plus, it hosted its annual “A Celebration of Independence” GRAMMY® Concert at the Palladium in Hollywood, CA. The show boasted an all-star lineup, including headliner Davido, Uncle Waffles, Tokischa, Donavan’s Yard, and NLE Choppa. Of the latter, The Source wrote, “This marked the first time UnitedMasters featured international acts, solidifying its impact and representation within the global independent artist movement.”
