Mac Miller’s drug dealer charged in connection with his death

A Hollywood Hills man has been charged in connection with the death of rapper Mac Miller for giving him counterfeit drugs.

According to a federal criminal complaint unsealed, a 42-page criminal complaint filed in the Central District of California alleges that Cameron James Pettit, 28, supplied Miller with counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl. Miller had asked to be furnished with “percs,” an abbreviation for Percocet, a prescribed painkiller containing oxycodone.

Miller was discovered unresponsive in his Studio City home on Sept. 7, 2018.

It was later revealed that the rapper died from an overdose of alcohol, cocaine, and fentanyl after Pettit delivered to Miller counterfeit oxycodone pills that contained fentanyl, cocaine, and Xanax two days earlier before his death.

Now the federal prosecutors have charged Pettit in connection with the death of the rapper. If convicted, the Drug Enforcement Administration says he faces a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.

Pettit has been ordered to be held without bond and will be arraigned on October 11.
