Electrochem Ghana Limited is no longer connected to the national grid thanks to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

According to reports, the company which is owned by popular business tycoon Dr. Daniel McKorley, owes ECG more than 300,000 cedis.

Laila Abubakari, ECG’s external communications manager, reveals meters that have been installed in the company’s premises have been tampered with, and ECG meter readers have been refused access to the meters.

After speaking with the business’s security personnel, the ECG task force disconnected the company.

Prior to visiting the Electrochem company, the team turned off the electricity at three other privately owned businesses in the Ada area, including a banana farm, Moonlight Fresco Limited, and a fish farm called Frosell.

On March 20, ECG began a massive disconnection operation in an attempt to recoup a debt of GH5.7 billion.
