Ministerial Reshuffle: Ken Ofori-Atta, others sacked 

His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo, President of the republic of Ghana has replaced Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta in a cabinet reshuffle amid criticism of his handling of the country’s economic problems.

 In the recent ministerial reshuffle, notable changes have been made, with Ken Ofori-Atta and some others being relieved of their duties. This sudden shake-up affected close to 13 ministers of state, comprising 10 cabinet ministers and two regional ministers. 

Other ministers who joined the finance minister in exiting Akuffo’s led government includes Road Minister, Kwame Amoako-Atta and Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu.

The move, announced on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, by the president’s office through a press release, comes ahead of an election in December. The statement contained a list of the sacked ministers, those reassigned and newly appointed.

Mohammed Amin Adam, currently the minister of state for finance, will replace Ken Ofori-Atta with immediate effect. He previously served as the deputy energy minister responsible for the petroleum sector. Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah moves to the Housing Ministry, while his deputy Fatimatu Abubakar takes over as the substantive Minister. Interior Minister Ambrose Dery has also been reassigned as Minister of State at the office of the President.
