Miss Malaika 2018 unveils top 16 finalists

When the call was made some few weeks ago, many were those bold, beautiful and intelligent ladies who responded and made their way to the Tomreik hotel for a shot at what could be a life changing race for the cash, the car and the glittery crown. Three weeks after that very first encounter with the judges, pageant producers, Charterhouse Productions, on Thursday 30thAugust 2018 unveiled their 16 beautiful wanna be queens going into battle on the 16thedition of Ghana’s most prestigious, most respected and most ideal beauty pageant, Miss Malaika Ghana! In attendance were family and friends of the delegates, sponsors, past delegates, reigning Queen, Miss Pearl Nyarko, members from the GH showbiz fraternity and a lot more. Adorned beautifully in GTP cloths, Berla Mundi, television/radio presenter and entrepreneur and Anita Akuffo, television presenter, and also past Miss Malaika delegates were the host of the event. In no particular order, they introduced the finalists as follows: Afia Boatemaa Boateng, Adwoa Noella, Jennifer Appiah, Anne Kusi Gyamfi, Elizabeth Dsane, Gloria Obeng Nyarko, Olivia Amadi, Vanessa Brago, Ambraya Abena Abrafi Gray, Dela Seade, Evelyn Nyaasemhwe, Nana Ama Agyekum, Mariam Owusu-Poku, Samira Rufai, Rosetta Quaicoe and Gesa Geermann. Speaking to guests at the event, head of Marketing at Charterhouse, Kafui Dogbatsey, said this year’s edition promises to be exciting and educational. “…Being a winner on the show solely depends on the ladies. They must work hard and be dedicated to the course”. He further revealed, ‘for the first time in pageant history in Ghana, a delegate will have the opportunity to win seed money to start a business in social enterprise by kind courtesy of The British Council, Ghana and also travel to the UK to network with other social entrepreneurs’. Speaking to the prize at stake, Kafui outlined the package as follows:

  1. The enviable Miss Malaika Ghana Crown
  2. A brand new Nissan Sunny from Premium Motors
  3. A brand new phone from Infinix,
  4. A 49’ smart TV
  5. A years’ supply of fabric from GTP
  6. A year’s supply of makeup from glams
  7. A years’ supply of products from UB
  8. A monthly stipend
  9. And for the first time, a scholarship from Wisconsin University to pursue a post graduate program.
The reigning queen, Miss Pearl Nyarko also gave a speech to the delegates on how winning the coveted Malaika crown has changed her life positively. She encouraged the ladies to put in a lot of hard work and shoot for the very best.
