Screen Shot 2018 06 21 at 11.53.18 AMIt seems like artists all around the world are trying to win Summer with June releases. Edemrefuses to be outdone in adding his name amongst the many critically awaited releases as he drops Hurricaneon June 21st on the Brooklyn Bridge Ent. / VRMG label.  Just as the world started recognizing and embracing Hip-Hop, it started changing course in sound from conscious rap, to gangsta rap to other sub-genres blending rock, country and trap; Hip-Life has also birthed sub-genres and break out descendants like this generation’s Afrobeat along with the new alternative trap-rock sound heard in Hurricane. Super producer Coptic in collaboration with DJ Pain 1 continues to show his flexibility and unconventional skills in being able to seamlessly crossover genres while staying true to quality productions for global audiences to appreciate the artists they love and the ones they are just getting introduced to in new ways without compromising their unique sound and talent. https://youtu.be/eb0r7bCnAeo As Ghanaian Alternative artist JoJo Abot channels the God within with the warning shot “Believe it or not we’re here to win… Like it or not, We here to stay… Pull up on your block all masquerade … It’s a Hurricane” Edem along with Teephlow and Dark Suburb come through lyrically blazing with hardcore guitar strings to let the world know that music from Ghana is not only here to stay, but it’s here to win, coming in like a hurricane with an unpredictable sound that cannot be put in a box. Edem continues to live up to his award-winning video stylings by collaborating with video producer Pascal to bring yet another extraordinary artistic visual to his sound. Edem’s second signal from “The African Answer” is truly a Hurricane in a sound clash that brings together JoJo Abot, Teephlow and Dark Suburb, Ghana’s global powerhouses in alternative music who are reinventing Ghana’s music scene with their contributions to the global music scene in the diversity and creativity of an AfricanAnswerthat unequivocally destroys global stereotypes of what African music should sound like. Hurricane like its name suggests, leaves the listener in a tropical cyclone of a heavy hitting sound storm that will have heads nodding and crowds surfing all at the same time!
