Although Ghanaian actress and now musician, Efia Odo has always supported the projects of her friends in the industry wholeheartedly, she did not get the same support when she released her introduction into the music scene.

On January 1, 2023, Efia Odo made social media trends when she released her first single “Getting to the bag.”

While there was an expectation for her to get the same support from her industry friends such as Kwesi Arthur, King Promise, Paedae of R2Bees, Killbeatz and the others, Efia says they all went mute on her, and it was actually something she expected.

In an exclusive interview with Zeinat Issahaku on Ameyaw TV, Efia responded in the negative when asked if she received any support on her project.

“No, I didn’t. I actually did not get the same support and I actually expected it,” she stated.

“I’ve been in the industry for long, even my movies that I do, nobody posts it, how much more my music. But obviously, Gyakie posted it, a few one or two friends that I know posted it but I wasn’t expecting for people to actually post it because at the end of the day, I wanna prove myself to them,” she added.

According to Efia, she believes the reason why they did not share or support her project is because they do not think she’s being serious about it.

“They might think I’m just playing around and so they won’t take me serious, but still, if I’ve supported you, its only cool for you to reciprocate the support but I’m not entitled, I don’t feel entitled. It’s not by force for people to support you. Expectations bring disappointments to ourselves. I don’t want to expect people to support me the way I’ve supported them, because for me, my support was genuine. Nobody ever paid me for support or to promote their music. I like it and I want the world to hear it because at the end of the day, me promoting it will put it on the map so why not?” she stated.

The actress also revealed that her industry friends, were very much aware that she was interested in doing music someday.

“They knew, Killbeatz knew, I played a lot of my songs to them, King Promise, Paedae, they all knew I was working on music for the past few years,” she revealed.

When asked what their feedback on her music was, she stated;

“They loved it, they said yes Efia you have to do it but they didn’t think I was serious because at the end of the day, I kept saying I was going to do it but I never actually never released it because obviously like I said I wanted it to reach a certain point before I release it.”
