My team and the GTA have agreed to a point on my copyright issue- Kirani Ayat

Ghanaian musician, Kirani Ayat has revealed his team has engaged in several meetings with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to finalise his copyright infringement case against and them.

Over the last couple of weeks, Kirani Ayat had called out the Presidency for using some portions of his music video in an advertisement without his permission to promote tourism in Ghana to mark World Tourism Day 2022.

In the video, which captures beautiful scenes of the country with a VoiceOver by the President, some portions of Kirani Ayat’s music video for his hit song “Guda” can be seen in the video.

GTA however, denied using Kirani Ayat’s work illegally, stating that they had acquired the footage legitimately from an ad agency.

In a recent turn of everts, Kirani Ayat has in an interview on Hitz FM, revealed that following the incident, he has had several meeting with the GTA to figure out a way forward on the issue.

According to him, the GTA acknowledged wrongdoing and was ready to do whats right.

“I can’t go into detail but they acknowledged that what has been done wasn’t done in the right manner so lets figure out the way forward and that’s what we did, it was pretty much a meeting to negotiate and compensate and do what’s right,” Kirani told Andy Dosty.

“Subsequent meetings were pretty much the same, they acknowledging that yeah the right thing wasn’t done and moving forward how can we have an understanding  and work together and since its being used to push Ghana,” he added.

Kirani further stated that following the series of meetings, his team and the GTA have finally come to an agreement and they will be releasing a statement soon when the time comes.

“We’ve agreed to a point. Almost there. We’ve agreed to a point. Right now. Its just left to iron out everything and put a statement out there,” he added.
