‘Nana Perbi and Friends National Peace Musical Tour’ launched for take-off this Sunday
“No one has the power to censor peace without producing it hence as we draw closer to elections, it is expected that Ghana will be a safe haven before, during and after the elections”. These were the words of Nana Perbi, a renowned gospel artiste at the press launch of this year’s “Nana Perbi and Friends Peace Musical Tour” held in Accra last Monday. The initiative, which is a collaboration between Nana Perbi and friends, the Stella Seal Ministries and PgC Africa Holdings under the auspices of the Okyehene, His majesty Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori has the sole objective of bringing astute gospel artistes together to preach peace as this year’s elections draw closer.
In a brief statement, Nana Perbi noted that elections across Africa have always been marred with violence recounting the experiences of other African countries that have to endure this canker.
“Elections across Africa have to a large extent been always marred by violence and anarchy but we believe Ghana has always stood tall over the years and this is the time for us consolidate this achievement and continue to be a shining example to Africa and the rest of the world,” he added.
He said that even though there have been various calls by politicians, the clergy, the Muslim leaders, traditional leaders and well meaning Ghanaians, he strongly believes that this peace musical tour will consolidate this nationwide call of peace.
He called on all traditional leaders, religious and civil groups to actively involve themselves in the campaign message of peace stressing that, “these groups have a tremendous influence on the society”.
The “Nana Perbi and Friends Peace Musical concert” is expected to hit the roads tomorrow with the UpperWest Region being the first to experience the Peace tour.
From there, the peace tour will hit Upper East, Northern, Western, Central, Volta, Eastern, Sunyani and the Ashanti regions respectively.
The final showdown is expected to be held in Accra on Sunday, the 2nd of December at the Tesano Baptist Church before the elections.
The tour will be used as an avenue to appeal to traditional and opinion leaders in the various communities to use their influence to educate the indigenes to shun away from political violence.
The tour will feature seasoned and budding gospel artistes and other artistes from all over the country.
Some of these artistes include Stella Seal, Amy Newman, Selina Boateng, O.J, Nicholas Omane Acheampong, DSP Kofi Sarpong, Cece Twum and many more.
