It’s just me recognizing my power. You know what I mean? In all senses, like the influence I have on people, my mental power. You know what I mean? My ability to stay focused and stay level throughout all the BS that the industry puts you through just as an artist. You know what I mean?

So, it basically just symbolizes the world that I exist in now, right? Like even beyond the music industry, we’re in a world now where everything looks very pretty and glitzy and glamorous at first glance. And then when you really take a closer look at it, you start to realize that things are not really as they seem. You know what I mean? There’s a lot of hidden evil in a lot of these beautiful things that we see.

Asanda Sizani Shares Her Favorite African Proverb

So the proverb is “Inyathi ibuzwa kwabaphambili”. It basically talks about valuing the lived experience of those that have walked the path before us.
