New job new look… Borax cuts off dreadlocks, find out why!

Published

on

Hiplife artiste Borax, known for his hit singles, ‘Nana Yaa’ and ‘Aseε Ho’, a song with highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, has been off the music scene for a while and we know know why.  Borax in an interview with JoyNews’s MzGee, the musician who now keeps an Afro hair, explained why he had to cut his dreadlocks. “I took it off basically because; I actually had to suit the corporate world. I’m actually working at the parliament house now and obviously in that jurisdiction, they frown on locks. Especially when you are in a high office like that,” he revealed. Borax further added that “I had to contemplate about it for over a month and I asked myself that if I should cut the locks, what will be my next image, should I have to strip off my whole hair? Then I said to myself, if I had to chop off the locks, then I think I’ll go for this cute afro.” Borax, born Nathaniel Larbi, also admitted to being naïve at the peak of his music career and hinted of a possible comeback onto the music scene. “When I was at the peak of my career, I was making much money and in life, there are ups and downs. So at the moment, I’m not at the peak of my career therefore, I need to get some primary source of income to support my music,” he said.]]>

Police brutality is slapping someone cooperating and already in cuffs – musician NY Melody

The Ghana Police Service arrested 29 people on Tuesday after dispersing a violent anti-cost protest in Accra with tear gas. The protest took a turn for the worse when protesters engaged in a violent exchange with police, injuring 12 officers and leading to the arrest of some of the protesters.

Following the incident, many Ghanaians, both inside and outside the country, have come out to condemn the police and protesters’ violent actions.

One video that went viral from the incident showed a police officer beating a handcuffed protester who was clearly not resisting arrest. The video sparked an online outrage, with “Be My Love” singer NY Melody among those quick to condemn the officer’s actions.

The musician later posted a video in which he expressed his disappointment at seeing the video. For him, the police officer was abusing his authority, and slapping someone who was already handcuffed was completely unnecessary.

“We live in a democracy, and in a democracy, we have the right to demonstrate when something bothers us.” The police, also known as “Peace Officers,” are supposed to keep the peace and order no matter what environment they are in.”

Imagine what would have happened if the protesters had retaliated in response to the slap. The cops should have known better; they should have some emotional intelligence. “Police brutality is slapping someone already in cuffs who isn’t resisting arrest.” he said.
