NEZ Drops EP on CircoLoco Records w/ Moodymann, Schoolboy Q, Gangsta Boo

unnamed 5 4 scaled

The next offering from the Circoloco Records imprint (the collaborative record label project from Rockstar Games and nightlife icons CircoLoco) is a 3-track EP headed up by LA-based artist and producer, NEZ. Here his signature blend of Hip-Hop and House can be traced across the EP’s three heavy-hitting tracks, with a style synonymous of the Chicago-born artist. CLR 002 also features guest appearances from Moodymann, ScHoolboy Q, and Gansta Boo. Listen Here

Following his Midnight Music EP, CLR 002 further sets the stage for NEZ’s hotly anticipated solo career as the artist continues to broaden his horizons beyond the mixing board. With co-production credits on tracks such as ScHoolboy Q’s ‘Man of the Year’ and ASAP Rocky’s ‘Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye from NEZ and Rio, and solo cuts featuring Felix da Housecat, Theophilus London, 8AE, and others, NEZ’s background is as varied as his approach.

CLR 002 is the second release from the CircoLoco records label, a partnership with Rockstar Games dedicated to seeking unique ways to present, support, and elevate forward thinking music and culture. The EP follows the 2021 release of the Monday Dreamin’ compilation, which featured visionaries and icons from every era of CircoLoco’s greatest parties including Carl Craig, Moodymann, Kerri Chandler, Sama Abdulhadi, DJ Tennis, tINI, and others. With CircoLoco Records and NEZ Present CLR 002, the label continues to push into new genres and styles, bouncing from the West Coast rap of “Let’s Get It” to the Chicago House vibe of “You Wanna?,” while “Freaks” expertly bridges the two with Moodymann and Gangsta Boo.

With 4 x 4 drum programming, a lot of swag, and some very special guests – including Moodymann, Three 6 Mafia’s Gangsta Boo and longtime collaborator ScHoolboy Q – this 3 track EP is indicative of the genre-forward approach that has seen CircoLoco become one of the world’s most important dancefloors. It serves as a hub for new DJ talent and producers, and a collision point between fashion and dance culture that has drawn the globe’s most coveted tastemakers to Ibiza for over 20 years. The tracks were first heard in-game via Grand Theft Auto’s The Contract and Los Santos Tuners stations, which matches NEZ’s love of GTA and the decision to bring his collaborators along for this release.

CircoLoco and Nez Present CLR 002 features:

You Wanna? – A fist pumping, jacking number with smooth skippy vocals from NEZ himself that glide over the warm melody, slamming snares and heavy bass.

Let’s Get it – A NEZ-produced hip-hop cut that features LA heavy weight ScHoolboy Q, with Q’s tones and timbre sitting nicely on the menacing plod of Nez’s beat, with a rap tracing everything from free clothes to cheat codes.

Freaks – NEZ enlists two legends from different US states and scenes, the mighty Moodymann to give ‘Freaks’ his Detroit touch and the legendry Gangsta Boo who rolls with Three 6 Mafia, to deliver a spitfire verse over a bouncy, bass-heavy beat which would sound correct booming out of any slab car in Houston.

CircoLoco Records

CircoLoco Records embodies both CircoLoco’s and Rockstar’s longstanding history of championing and elevating club culture, as well as generations of underground DJs, artists and icons on a global scale. Their aim is to be as culturally transformative as the partnership represents, bringing the best of underground dance music to a whole new audience with passion and integrity. CircoLoco Records represent an industry first, bridging entertainment powerhouses for the first time in an effort to support dance music after a bruising year enduring the pandemic. CircoLoco Records reinforces both CircoLoco’s and Rockstar’s reputation of bridging cultural sectors through music, e.g., Keinemusik x MSBHV, Ricardo Tisci x Martinez Brothers. CircoLoco Records will showcase the very best underground dance music talent on a global stage with TBD forthcoming releases.

Amartey previews forthcoming EP with all-new single ‘Listen’

Whenever Mr. More Energy is around the corner, you know you’re in for the thrill of a lifetime! And one listen of his latest single is enough to understand why. The ‘Dey Inside’ crooner pulls on the right heartstrings with a simple yet effective title. He presents ‘Listen,’ a beautiful homage to his hometown and the first preview of his forthcoming EP “House of Energy,” slated for a 2024 release. ‘Listen’ is available on all digital streaming platforms globally here:

With Amapiano’s popularity saturating every inch of the Atlantic, Amartey is ready to be one of its focal points in Europe and of course, back home. A result of this ambition is ‘Listen.’ Over nifty log drum grooves and soothing melodies, Amartey invites fans to hear him out as he paints an expressive picture of where he longs to be: Teshie Penny–a suburb in Accra, Ghana. His vivid description makes for a striking premise that captures his heart and flair in a captivating mold full of authentic West African vibes.

A man on a mission to win over listeners, Amartey is a singer-songwriter and performer born and raised in Amsterdam-Zuidoost with Ga- Adangbe blood pumping through his veins. His versatility and knack for producing quality music have not only seen him sell out two headline shows at Melkweg but have spun viral radio hits such as ‘Nobody Like You’ (2015) and recently ‘Dey Inside’ (2022), which has approximately 500,000 streams on Spotify as of November 2023.

Amartey’s versatility has also seen him bounce between Afrobeats, R&B, Pop and now Amapiano–a genre quickly taking over Amsterdam’s nightclub scene by storm. From his splendid showcase at Eurosonic Noorderslag to performing on the Dutch TV program De Wereld Draait Door and winning the Grote Prijs van Nederland, the talented singer has proved himself a big stepper in the Dutch music scene. Largely thanks to his 2017 EP, ‘YBFTS,’ which ranked #1 and #16 on Apple’s iTunes World Music and iTunes Music charts, respectively.

‘Listen’ is produced by Ghana’s StreetBeatz. It is a tribute to Amartey’s roots and a showcase of his ability to switch between genres seamlessly. Don’t miss the chance to experience this thriving sound.

Musa Keys tells Apple Music about his ‘Becoming Him’ EP

My ‘Becoming Him’ EP is a prompt to my album. I’m just saying goodbye to who I was, and welcoming my new self. I believe my music is different now, I’ve grown so much and now fully have an understanding of what works for me and what sound is best for me, what best translates what I feel to the rest of the people.

Musa Keys tells Apple Music about his Dual Roles as Producer and Vocalist

Somebody actually asked me what would I do if I had to choose between producing music and actually becoming more of a vocal artist. What would I choose? It was a very difficult choice for me, mainly because I think I’m pretty dominant in both, and the way I have so much intent I know what I want in the sense of what I want it to sound like, and that’s one thing I always say working with other artists – maybe I find I’ve produced the song, but I just feel like they’re not connecting with the song the way I’m imagining it in my vocal mind – so I believe I’m everything. Don’t classify me!

Musa Keys tells Apple Music about Taking his Music International

I should even change my Instagram bio to ‘Young Global Superstar’! I believe that I’ve reached quite a beautiful point in my life in South Africa where I’ve built my brand, and now it’s time to take it to the rest of the world.

Not only South Africa, Africa as a whole you know. I’ve done a couple of shows around Africa, which is where I’m going next now for my own shows. I want to have my own one-man shows outside of South Africa just to actually put a stamp that yo, I’m actually him.

Despite that I just believe that my music is in a different place now, I feel like I am where I should be. I feel like the music is really about who I’ve grown to become.
