Nicki Minaj celebrates Saudi Arabia’s reforms towards women’s rights
Nicki Minaj is celebrating after the Saudi Arabia changed a law, which many see as a step in the right direction towards women’s rights.
Last month, Nicki Minaj took to social media to explain the reason why she canceled her performance in Saudi Arabia. The concert was set to take place in July and about 50,000+ attendees would have been in attendance. She hopped on Twitter and shared:
“After better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community, and freedom of expression,” Minaj explained on Twitter.
Now less than a month later, Nicki has returned to Twitter to retweet a few updates on Saudi Arabia. Did cancelling her show influence the Saudi Arabian government to change some of their laws for women’s rights?
Saudi Arabian laws have required women to cover up in public, segregated businesses by gender, and not obtain a legal passport without a male guardian, plus more.
Saudi Arabia just granted women the right to travel without male permission. But women's rights activists there are still in prison for protesting for equal rights.pic.twitter.com/Q3yH3f4p2u

Nicki hopped on Twitter to respond after learning that she may have affected the Saudi Arabian government in the most positive way.
Not sure if I did personally by pulling out of the show, but thank u for posting so ppl can see results are happening in real time. There’s still a long way to go but this made me happy. #HumanRights https://t.co/g643AFMO1O

“The Barbie Dreams” rapper then popped off on media outlets for failing to post the good news coming out of Saudi Arbia.
Blogs pick & choose who to post positive things from. Tell them to post the update on the Saudi women. 🦄
