Nollywood grabs Denzel Washington for ‘Spider Basket’?
For some time now, the Ghanaian and Nigerian film industries have grabbed the attention of ‘Black Hollywood’, with several actors like Jimmy Jean-Loius, Isaiah Washington, Kimberly Elise, Vivica Fox and others starring in local productions. Although there were recent reports that Oscar winning actress, Halle Berry would star in a future Nollywood production, there is little information on the possibilities of seeing that any time soon. Well, there is news that Nollywood may have grabbed the biggest catch yet! Nigeria is set to play host to Academy Award winner, Denzel Washington, who is expected this week to partake in the shooting of a new movie ‘Spider Basket’, bankrolled by Nigerian entrepreneur, Dennis Osadebe. Osadebe who arrived Nigeria from his base in Turkey last Friday in company of his Turkish partner, Abdulkadir Erkahraman, hinged his decision to invest in the entertainment industry as a sign of his faith in the abundant talents that abound in the country. “Denzel is just one of many Hollywood stars that I want to witness the talents in this country and to impact significantly on Nollywood. Others are coming. My second movie, By Fire by Force, is due to be premiered this month,” he commented.]]>
