While in the UK, Obuor met with the General Secretary of the British Musicians Union and President of the International Federation of Musicians (FIM). The meeting was to discuss possible collaborations between the two unions. According to Obuor, the meeting was very positive. He added that a lot of prospects await the Ghanaian musician especially for live performers and composers in the areas of training and skills development and participation in international festivals. Other areas include support with collective rights management. The meeting took place at the offices of the MU at 62 Clapham Road in London. It is expected that as a follow up to the meeting, the twinning scheme proposed by Musiga will be signed during the FIM Congress in Argentina later in the year.   Meanwhile, the President Musicians Union of Ghana has congratulated Hiplife artiste and VGMA Artiste of the Year for winning the BET International Act of the Year (Africa) at the BET Awards ceremony over the weekend in California. The Tema based artiste was joint winners with Nigeria’s Wizkid at the prestigious awards event which celebrates the best in Black music worldwide. According to the President of Musiga Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obuor, Sarkodie’s feat is an indication of the massive potential Ghanaian music has and gives hope for the international marketing of our music. In a related development, Musiga has also commended Empire Entertainment on the successful hosting of the second edition of the Ghana meets Nigeria musical extravaganza in Accra.
