On The Rise: Sassy Sika Osei takes on Ghanaian television with panache!
She is often referred to by many in the entertainment industry as the “twin sister” of well known, award-winning actress Ama K Abebrese. And though this description is not exactly accurate, the two are very close friends, and have been for several years, supporting each other in all their endeavors. Just recently though, a very popular Tigo cash advert was unleashed onto the Ghanaian public taking us by storm. It was her well played role as the overbearing wife, who was overtly annoyed by her husband and his friends, who enjoyed themselves watching football and making a mess whilst she had to do all the house chores, that has catapulted Sika Osei into the world of television. She is officially the new kid on the block, being the first ever female host of the popular lifestyle and entertainment show PHAMOUS TV SHOWS which airs on Viasat 1 every Saturday at 3pm. Combining her energetic presenting style with her natural charm, Sika has been able to fit nicely into the mould of presenting, a role that often sees her interacting with some of Ghana’s popular musicians and celebrities. But who is this girl really and what is she all about? Well her full name is Christine Sika Osei but her close friends and family call her by her middle name Sika which she believes has and will continue to work for her in this industry. She was born in Ghana but left when she was young to live in various countries including South Africa, USA and India as a result of her mother being a diplomat for the United Nations. She returned to Ghana to school at SOS in Tema which she followed with a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Ghana and more interestingly is currently pursuing a bachelor of law degree at GIMPA. It’s not everyday you meet someone who has a passion for both the legal profession as well as the entertainment industry especially here in Ghana. It’s something that makes Sika very unique and interesting.Lawyer to the stars has a great ring to it and Sika hopes to be the first lawyer to officially claim that title here in Ghana. But besides the fact that she is just now being seen on our screens, the industry in not new to her really. Having had several years experience in the media and magazine business as well as TV production, Sika already knows and has friends in the entertainment industry. She therefore feels right at home. ‘I’m actually a big fool” she admits. People will never know that when they see me out or on TV. I love to have fun, laugh and crack jokes with my friends and I also just loves meeting people and interacting with them. Perhaps this is the reason why her two chosen professions is just perfect for who she is. So what now for this budding presenter? She definitely wants to build her career with caution. One step at a time so as to not compromise her religious values or her other chosen profession as a lawyer. In the light of this however expect to see more of this young, intelligent but fun loving lady on both the small and big screen. “I am actually having lots of fun doing this, I really am. And I’m glad I can showcase to Ghana and soon the rest of the world this creative side of me and not feel like I need to be stuck in a box just because I also want to be a lawyer.]]>
