Organizers criticized for including Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss in Olympics’ closing

Published

on

naomi campbellThe Olympics Closing Ceremony on Sunday night, which was a huge party that showcased British music history, icons and traditions, has received some criticism for including rail-thin, slightly unhealthy-looking supermodels, with complicated histories in the segment that put the spotlight on supermodels. Great Britain’s Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell led the catwalk contingent that paid homage to British designers such as Alexander McQueen and Victoria Beckham. The Twitter-verse exploded with disapproval. Moss, who allegedly used drugs in 2005, in particular took some heat. But Tweeters’ main complaint was to ask what kind of message it sends to feature anorexic-looking women after seeing the accomplishments of healthy, muscular women. Meanwhile the closing ceremony was a party themed event which featured performances by top British and iconic British music by the likes of Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Pet Shop Boys, Spice Girls, Take That, George Michaels, Taio Cruz and others.
