Photos from the 2018 Baltimore Washington One Carnival

Last week I had a road trip to the DMV area, seeking for fun, which I got at the Jolly Festival in Washington DC. Sadly I left the DMV before another carnival I wanted, so much, to attend.

The Baltimore Washington One Carnival is an annual event in July that celebrates local Caribbean communities and their culture. https://youtu.be/YUlnjXAeXKs

This year’s event started on Saturday July 14, and continues through Sunday July 15, at Clifton Park in Baltimore, Maryland.

Highlights of the Carnival weekend include a Caribbean-style street parade and a 2-day outdoor festival.

The parade kicked-off with a sea of revelers and masqueraders in flamboyant costumes make their way through the streets of Baltimore dancing to the authentic sounds and pulsating rhythms of the Caribbean, as Baltimore’s Clifton Park transforms into a family-friendly Caribbean festival.

International and local artists perform on stage amidst a pop-up marketplace of vendors offering everything from mouth-watering Caribbean food to unique arts and crafts.

Although I missed it, my US-based Ghanaian rapper friend, Ohene Ntow was there and here are some photos he captured for us!
