PHOTOS: Equatorial Guinea opens hospitality center in Accra after a national died studying in Ghana



International Students’ Guest Centre (ISGC), an innovative learning and hospitality center was built by the Equatorial Guinea Missions under the auspices of the Equatorial Guinea President, H.E Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo to provide safe accommodation for EG students in Ghana after the death of Jose Maria Nsue Ndje an EG student who died while studying in Ghana. Due to the multipurpose nature of the facility, situated at Teiman – Abokobi in the Adentan Municipal District of Accra, it has the capacity to accommodate students as well as regular guests seeking quality hotel services, an event and conference venue.

A media launch was held on March 25, 2017 aimed at engaging stakeholders and media to share the vision of ISGC and give them an opportunity to experience some of the center’s offerings.” In attendance were dignitaries from the Equatorial Guinea Embassy, other embassies represented in Ghana, Ministers of state, Traditional rulers, corporate bodies, religious sects and media.
Speaking at a media launch in Accra, the Equatorial Guinea Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Jesus Mba Bela Abaha said the President of Equatorial Guinea named the facility after the late Jose Maria Nsue Ndje, a brilliant student from Equatorial Guinea who died whiles studying in Ghana. He noted that Equatorial Guinea has many students undertaking courses abroad but the larger percentage of these students are in Ghana. He indicated that these students sometimes face challenges that include accommodation, a situation which led to the sudden and irreparable death of a very intelligent Equatorial Guinean student in Ghana. The President of the Equatorial Guinea inaugurated the International Students’ Guest Centre on January 7, 2017 when he attended the swearing-in ceremony of President Nana Akufo Addo. Julian Adomako-Gyimah, the Executive Director of the International Student’s Guest Centre (ISGC) indicated that their mission is to provide an efficient and holistic experience in the hospitality business with the vision of becoming the standard in hospitality in the sub-region. The learning centre which has; 126 elegant rooms with the capacity to accommodate 168 people, a modern gym, an auditorium that doubles as a cinema, conference rooms, a salon, an infirmary, a laundry, a world class restaurant support with a modern kitchen, basket ball court, a tennis court, industrial cafeteria, a modern swimming pool, an outdoor event area with solar energy as an alternative source of energy. ISGC’s priority is to serve all and sundry who look forward to having a real hospitality experience. Businesses and Churches could also use the plush conference rooms for meetings and training programs. About 40 percent of their current staff are locals from Abokobi and its catchment area. ]]>
