PHOTOS: See how Kojo Antwi, Daddy Lumba and Samini rocked at African Legends Night
In its 7th Edition, the Vodafone African Legends Night is an event that celebrates great music acts from the soil of the continent. It also creates a platform where these legends have direct encounter with their fans.
Opening the show, the indigenous Ga band, Wulomei took the audience back to their root with great old tunes.
When the Maestro, Mr. Music Man Kojo Antwi climbed on stage, the dancing floor had no space as the music legend thrilled them with his love songs from reggae, highlife and other genre. The music legend performed songs such as Emrika, Music Man, Tom and Jerry, Medofo Pa etc.
Kojo has always yearned for such a platform where he joins his quintessential brother Daddy Lumba on one stage. The last time the two performed together was in London.
Kojo Antwi brought his energy and simply shook the house for over an hour with nonstop music as the crowd sang along.
And Samini stepped up the tempo. Wow! The Reggae Dancehall God, who humbly considers himself as a young legend, was on fire.
He performed hit after hit songs from Linda to Iskoki, Gyae shi, My Own, Where My Baby Dey, to his new tune Obaa.
Samini also played songs of Nana Kwame Ampadu, Bob Marley to pay an ode to them for their contribution to music.
On his 54th birthday on the night of the show, Daddy Lumba gave out something special. He gave the fans the opportunity to sing their favorite Lumba songs backed by himself.
The lover boy was presented with a special cake by the organizers, Global Media Alliance and headline sponsor, Vodafone joined by Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
Ending the show, Lumba thanked Ghanaians for supporting him and Ghanaian Music.

Police brutality is slapping someone cooperating and already in cuffs – musician NY Melody

The Ghana Police Service arrested 29 people on Tuesday after dispersing a violent anti-cost protest in Accra with tear gas. The protest took a turn for the worse when protesters engaged in a violent exchange with police, injuring 12 officers and leading to the arrest of some of the protesters.
Following the incident, many Ghanaians, both inside and outside the country, have come out to condemn the police and protesters’ violent actions.
One video that went viral from the incident showed a police officer beating a handcuffed protester who was clearly not resisting arrest. The video sparked an online outrage, with “Be My Love” singer NY Melody among those quick to condemn the officer’s actions.

The musician later posted a video in which he expressed his disappointment at seeing the video. For him, the police officer was abusing his authority, and slapping someone who was already handcuffed was completely unnecessary.
“We live in a democracy, and in a democracy, we have the right to demonstrate when something bothers us.” The police, also known as “Peace Officers,” are supposed to keep the peace and order no matter what environment they are in.”
Imagine what would have happened if the protesters had retaliated in response to the slap. The cops should have known better; they should have some emotional intelligence. “Police brutality is slapping someone already in cuffs who isn’t resisting arrest.” he said.
