Play our songs and stop asking for ‘payola’ – Iwan to Ghanaian DJs

Published

Iwan

Reggae/Dancehall artist, Iwan has said that majority of Ghanaian disc jockers(DJ) do not support musicians in the country.

According to him, the negative attitude of DJs in Ghana contributes to the low growth of artistes in the country. he said most of these DJs demand various sums of money from them(artistes) before playing their songs on radio whereas they play songs from foreigners, especially Nigerian songs for free.

Venting his anger against the DJs, in a post on Instagram, Iwan wrote: “A Ghanaian Dj waiting for Payola to Play his Fellow Ghanaian Music but Play Popcaan, Movado, Vybz Kartel etc for Free .. Even do Free Mixtapes and Expensive Cover designs for this projects. After all this, they Come dissin GH Acts especially This Innocent Upcoming Acts who have no money to give them. I see So Many GH Dj’s Frustrated.. They expect to be Hailed and celebrated for playing Their Fellow Ghanaian songs, Which I see to be Lame.. if u don’t play Ghana music , which music would u Play.. Forget that Childish talks , say eeerr ‘if we help promote them and they reach somewhere then they forget Us’.. Which Jamaican or Nigerian Artists remembered you when they made their money .. Play Music because you are a Dj. And Good music is to be promoted no matter what”

Iwan is currently embarking on a nationwide tour to promote his new album ‘Corner Stone’
