The current president of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta did not come to the discussion between him and Raila Odinga, the opposition candidate. The latter one had to answer all questions alone.

Kenyatta`s office has not given any explanation yet regarding the current president absence at the debate.

The presidential election will take place on August 8, 2017. The ruling Jubilee Party promises to give quality and free health care for all citizens of Kenya, as well as affordable housing and free secondary education among other promises.

Odinga is the leader of the National Super Alliance coalition. He has already promised, if elected, to lesser food prices immediately and fight youth unemployment. Talking about food prices, the leader of the opposition meant sugar and maize flour first of all.

Moreover, the opposition promises to set up a universal health service fund, fight corruption, and completely reform the public sector.
