After a rigorous screening exercise and a journey of hard work, Francis Beaon representing Anambra State beat 23 other contestants to clinch the 2014 Mr Universe Nigeria title. Francis won a Toyota “Matrix” car, an apartment for a year, a year’s gym membership and subscription for his favourite fashion magazines. We caught up with him for a quick chat on his experience and what the future holds for him. Here is our Quick 5 with Mr Universe Nigeria
- How was the Mr Universe Nigeria experience like for you and how does it feel winning?
It felt fulfilling. I felt so proud of myself. The experience was great; we had fun in camp as well as series of work out. I learnt how to tolerate and manage people.
- What would be your role as Mr Universe Nigeria?
My role is to rep my country and the people dwelling in it well, locally, nationally and internationally. I will as will be giving back to my society in every little way I can. I hope to be able to touch as many lives as possible, most especially those in primary and secondary schools.
- Who is Francis, the man behind Mr Universe Nigeria?
I’m the third child of Mr and Mrs Egwuatu, I have 3 sisters and a brother. I hail from Nnewi, Anambra State. Before the pageant, I was a State King; Mr Universe Anambra, wish I won in 2013, when I was a final year student studying Mechanical Engineering at Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
- What have been your highlights from the Mr Universe Nigeria journey?
My highlights in camp was sleeping as late as 3pm and waking up 5pm and then going straight into a rigorous morning exercises. It was stressful and same time rewarding because it teaches me how to be disciplined.
- What are your expectations for the future as Mr Universe Nigeria?
My expectation for the future is looking back and being more proud of myself, with no regrets!
