Ghanaian rapper Yaa Pono recently called out Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for using his hit song ‘Obia Wone Master’ during a political campaign without his consent.

Yaa Pono expressed his frustration on X stating,

“Why my song being used for campaign without my notice, @honkenagy, this is not cool for me.”  Alongside his tweet was a video capturing the moment when Kennedy and his campaign team enthusiastically danced to the beats of ‘Obia Wone Master.’

This tweet ignited a debate on social media. Some argued that since Yaa Pono mentioned Kennedy Agyapong in the song, its use in the campaign was justified. Others supported the rapper’s stance, emphasizing the importance of seeking permission before using copyrighted material for political purposes.
