Rashad McCrorey and the village of Iture organise naming ceremony for 51 returnees
The Tourism Chief (Nsrahwehen) of Iture, Elmina, Rashad McCrorey (Nana Kofi Kukudurfo I), has organised a naming ceremony for some members of the diaspora who have returned to Ghana and are seeking to know their roots.
The ceremony was held in collaboration with the chiefs and people of Iture and Rashad McCrorey (Nana Kofi Kukudurfo I) through his company, ‘Africa Cross Culture.”
The purpose of the naming ceremony was to let members of the diaspora that now have a new family in Ghana, to have other options than just their European names.
As many members from the diaspora continue to visit Ghana, many of them are in search of their roots, looking to remember their past and find stability by making trust worthy and responsible connections in the African country of their choice which in this case is Ghana.
A total of 51 people participated in the ceremony, 49 women and 2 men, and were all given new identities.
Rashad McCrorey and the Village of Iture have been organising naming ceremonies together approaching one full year now.
Rashad McCrorey as an individual has been organising naming ceremonies since 2019, with approximately 200 individuals and approximately 90 individuals with the village of Iture, which whom Rashad has committed to permanent naming ceremonies with as their Chief of Tourism.
