R&B star Ciara, plays guest judge on Idols South Africa

The final 2 contestants in this year’s Idols South Africa, Season 8 Khaya Mthethwa and Melissa Allison sang for the final chance to win the coveted singing competition in the company of a superstar. In Sunday night’s Top Two Spectacular, Melissa and Khaya had their work cut out for them to wow the panel of judges, with celebrity guest judge and international star Ciara in the house. But of course it’s the fans that they really have to impress, because this year the outcome of the competition completely lies in the hands of the voting public and voting closes tomorrow night at 10pm. While Melissa and Khaya were warming up backstage to perform their three songs of the evening, fans welcomed the rest of the Top 10 back onto the Idols stage to perform the anti-crime anthem Shout with Danny K and the Drakensberg Boys Choir! Then Idols host ProVerb introduced the winners of the “Be The Band” competition, who were chosen by Danny K over the past few months to be the new “Samsung Band”. Their musical dreams came true tonight when they performed the Jordin Sparks/Chris Brown hit No Air with Khaya and Melissa. The next South African Idol will be announced during the live broadcast of the Idols Season 8 Finalé on Tuesday, 2 October, at 7.30pm on M-Net and M-Net HD channel 101, and Mzansi Magic channel 161. The special 90-minute long show on Tuesday will feature performances by previous Idol Dave van Vuuren and a variety of popular musicians, including Jack Parow, FreshlyGround, Toya Delazy and Zakes Bantwini.]]>
