Since the news broke on GhanaCelebrities.Com that some ‘A-list’ Ghanaian actors and celebrities flopped their auditions for ‘The Spirited Actor: The Search for Africa’s Next Hollywood Star’ project, Ghanaians have been curious to know the names of the unsuccessful Hollywood star-wannabes. At a taping to unveil the top ten finalists, some invited members of public got to catch a glimpse of two of the stars that weren’t quite ready for Hollywood.
A video teaser on excerpts from the journey through the auditions revealed that troubled Ghanaian actor, Ecow Smith Asante (who has been in the news in recent times for being ‘banned’ by a film regulatory body) was among the reported actors that couldn’t make the cut. Another familiar face in the video was Big Brother Africa star and rapper turned actor, Kweku T.
To find out why the two couldn’t make the cut, and also to find out the other celebrities that failed the auditions, don’t miss out on a special TV series when it starts airing soon on Viasat 1, the official TV station for ‘The Spirited Actor’ project.
As the known faces flopped, new talents were discovered. Only 30 out of the over 700 candidates managed to score a star on the judge’s cards. The 30 were further trimmed down to the final 10. The selected 10 will go through a series of tasks, after which they will be put on TV for 2 weeks, where the public vote to decide the final 5.
The judges on the project include Hollywood actor, Rockmond Dunbar; acclaimed acting coach Tracey Moore; and film maker, Samad Davis.
