lobally renowned, live-electronic band RÜFÜS DU SOL will unveil “Underwater” – a short film directed by James Frost featuring the fan-favorite track “Underwater” from the band’s new album, SOLACE (Rose Avenue Records/Reprise) – inside HP Inc.’s 11,000 square foot Antarctic Projection Dome (the largest in the world) during an exclusive VIP event on Thursday, April 11, the evening before the official opening of this year’s festival.

During the special event, RÜFÜS DU SOL will also play a DJ set and participate in a panel discussion examining technology’s power to transform and humanize music by enhancing connections, collaboration and creativity. Starting on the same day, RÜFÜS DU SOL will become YouTube’s “Artist On The Rise” as well.

Once the festival launches, attendees can experience the 360-degree film in the innovative HP structure, a geodesic Projection Dome, which integrates the latest technology to create a bold new canvas for artistic expression. The content, created using Z by HP high-performance PC technology, elevates digital artistry to dome-inspired heights.

Director James Frost, the mastermind behind music videos like Radiohead’s “House of Cards” and OK Go’s “This Too Shall Pass,” said, “RÜFÜS DU SOL and I have been trying to collaborate for a while, so when the opportunity arose to create the visual accompaniment to ‘Underwater’ for the HP Antarctic Dome at Coachella, I couldn’t think of a more perfect song and I knew we could create something magical. ‘Underwater’ is rich with layers, and the piece we’ve created immerses the audience visually and sonically in this expansive dome setting. I’m honored and thrilled not only to be asked to work on this, but also to have brought the piece to life with amazing graphic artists from around the world.”
