Samini deletes and issues apology to UG security personnel following backlash

Award-winning Reggae/Dancehall artiste, Samini, has deleted and apologised for his recent tweet meant to ridicule a security personnel at the University of Ghana premises.

On Friday, June 10, Samini had tweeted about an incident involving him and a security personnel  at the University of Ghana.

According to Samini, the young man refused him entry because he did not have his electronic card to grant him access as stipulated by the University’s regulations.

“I have 2 passes,1 for my bikes 1 for cars. Unfortunately I switched cars and left my pass ..come and see Chirman of gatemen association ooo. Let’s make him popular eeh. The #gatechairman of Legon campus. You do all. eventually some sensible security come to beg Chirman for me,” Samini tweeted after the incident.

The “Linda” hitmaker’s attempt at disgracing the security personnel backfired as he was heavily criticised on social media.

Samini has since deleted the tweet and issued an apology to the young man who was doing his job.

“After my post about the incident at the security-gate I’ve realized majority of you advised that I should have done the right thing.Nothing makes my case right regardless of how many cards I have and how upset I got .#nocardnoentry Apologies to the young man doing his job,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, the University of Ghana has issued a statement reminding the general public that all vehicles are required to present the e-card in order to have access to the premises’s gates.
