Gospel musician, Grace Ashy has said nothing differentiates gospel and secular artistes but their respective genres.

The ‘Mewura Yesu’ singer said the two genres do not matter in the music world and believe strongly that an artist can choose between these genres based on where he or she feels compatible with.

We are working under one umbrella just that our ways differ a little. Depending on where one feels comfortable in his or her career he or she can either choose to do gospel or secular music.

“Apart from that, I see no difference between artists doing the two genres so when we meet each other, we act warmly towards each other because we are one people,” she said on Adom FM’s ‘Work and Happiness’ show

She added, “I always want people to understand that these two genres are the same and the secular acts are not of the devil after all that is their work.

“Someone may not be successful when he or she does gospel music but will be successful when they do secular music. So we are of good terms with these secular acts. They sing our songs and we sing theirs too” she expressed.

Grace Ashy who has being out the country for quite some time, revealed that she enjoys some the secular music, one of which she said is Kuami Eugene’s ‘Wish me well’.

She also spoke about the unfortunate passing of highlife artist Kofi B.

“I like Kofi B, we were not the closest or the best of friends, but we were good, I like his songs very well. I was surprised when my son broke the news to me on Sunday morning and I found it a very disturbing feeling,” she said.
