Leila Djansi’s latest film, ‘Sinking Sands’ continues to make waves in the film industry just few weeks after it was premiered in Ghana. ‘Sinking Sands’ received a total of 13 nominations for the upcoming Ghana Movie Awards (MAGs), slated for December 25. The lead actress, Ama K Abebrese was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role, as well as the Discovery of the Year category. The nominations were revealed at the star-studded Nominees Party held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra on Friday November 26.
The most nominated local movie, ‘Ama Ghana’ received 12 nominations including mentions for cinematography, editing, make-up, and effects. ‘Sinking Sands’ was not included in those categories perhaps because those departments in the production were headed by foreigners.
