St. Roses Senior High succumbs to Adisadel College in The Sharks Quiz

In the sixth contest of what is currently the most enthralling high school quiz in the country – The Sharks; Adisadel College, third place finishers from last year took on first-timers St. Roses Senior High in the round of sixteen. St. Roses, which is the only all-girls’ high school to have qualified from the preliminary stages was expected to give the experienced Adisadel side a tough challenge.
This was not to be, as the team from Adisadel captained by Mbembo Nona led right from the first round to the final round. The brainy ladies couldn’t find the form they exhibited in the preliminary stages which ranked them among the top twelve senior high schools in the competition. In the end, the Zebra boys gave the widest margin yet in this year’s edition of The Sharks Quiz. 105 – 20 it ended.
At the Juniors level, defending champions Ghana Christian International High met with first-timers Osu Home JHS. The students from Osu Home School led in the first two rounds, but there was a big comeback in the third round also known as the STEM round. Seventy points out of a possible one hundred points was amassed by the Christian High side in that round. This coupled with the impressive display in the one on one round cemented their victory and gave a friendly warning to the competing schools that they were still the side to beat. I50 to 65 points it ended in favor of Christian High.
The excitement still continues in The Sharks Academic Competition. Next week Volta regional heavyweights Keta Senior High (Ketasco) meet with the brilliant lads from the capital, Accra Academy. The contests shows on TV3 (DSTV 279) every Saturday from 2.30pm and streams live on The Sharks Facebook page.
The Sharks all-round competition focuses on core competencies – Literacy, Numeracy, STEM and Social Literacy and is endorsed by the Ministry of Education, supported by Family Health Medical School, Academic City College, Ashesi University, Webster University, Indomie, B5 Plus, Frytol, Fortune Rice, Louisiana State University, University of St. Thomas, Givers Care, Coco Pops and Mcberry biscuits.
