Star Trek producer, Rick Berman rates ‘Ties That Bind’ highly ahead of Nigerian and UK premieres

Ties That Bind’June 1, will see Ghanaian film maker, Leila Djansi’s ensemble drama, ‘Ties That Bind’ open in cinemas across Nigeria. Profiled by Rick Berman, producer of the Star Trek Series for Paramount Pictures as gripping film, Ties That Bind stars Kimberly Elise, Ama K Abebrese, Omotola Ekeinde, John Dumelo,  Ebbe Bassey, featuring Randall Batinkoff and David Dontoh. “I see a good number of independent films each year and ‘Ties That Bind’ is one of the most gripping movies I’ve screened in a long time,” comments Rick Berman. ‘Ties That Bind’ tells the story of Adobea, Buki and Theresa, three women from different walks of life bound together by a similar pain; the loss of a child. In a destined meeting in a small village in Kroboland, the women journey together to redemption, love, life and forgiveness as they renovate a dilapidated clinic for the villagers.   Already making waves across the world, ‘Ties That Bind’ has honorably opened the Africa International Film Festival held in Lagos Nigeria and, the San Diego Black Film festival. In addition, the film will screen for the next couple of months at various film festivals among which are the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles in February, The Women of Color Arts and Film Festival, and the prestigious American Film Institutes’ New African Films Festival in Maryland in March 2012.   ‘Ties That Bind’, winner of an unprecedented 9 Ghana Movie Awards to include Best Picture, screened in Ghana to a packed audience and went on record as the first Ghanaian made film to screen for over a month in the cinema circuit. It will be released in Nigeria by the Silverbird Group one of Nigeria’s foremost film bookers. June is also the month in which ‘Ties That Bind’ will be released across the UK and Ireland via Odeon Cinemas. Meanwhile, Sinking Sands, another award winning film from Turning Point Pictures is currently on worldwide DVD release and goes on DVD in Nigeria March 5th 2012.]]>
