Stonebwoy Demands Rectification from Recording Academy for Overlook in Ghanaian Hiplife Feature

Celebrated Ghanaian reggae/dancehall artist Stonebwoy, known in private life as Livingstone Etse Satekla, has asked the Recording Academy, the organizers of the esteemed Grammy Awards, to exercise due diligence and rectify an article published on their website on August 20, 2024, which discusses the history of music in Ghana.

The article titled “10 Artists Essential To Ghanaian Hiplife: Reggie Rockstone, Sarkodie, Mzbel & More” features prominent Ghanaian musicians including Reggie Rockstone, Lord Kenya, Obrafour, VIP, Tinny, Mzbel, Sarkodie, Asakaa Boys, Black Sherif, and King Paluta.

The ‘Therapy’ hitmaker expressed his belief that his name was excluded from this list despite his significant contributions to the music industry over the past decade and beyond. He further substantiated his assertion by presenting his Grammy certificate.

In a tweet sighted by our firm, the 25th TGMA Artiste of The Year wrote: “Who ever wrote this article is interestingly missing THE NAME @stonebwoy.”

“@recordingAcad do due diligence before you publish half dozed articles aiming to capture the true image of the State of the Ghanaian Sound,” he added.
