The lowest amount I’ve been paid as an actor is GH₵4000 – Adjetey Anang

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian actor, Adjetey Anang, renowned for his versatility and depth in movies and stage performances, has shared an eye-opening detail about his career.

 

In an exclusive interview with AJ Sarpong on 3FM Lounge on Monday, July 8, 2024, the actor revealed that the lowest amount he has been paid for a role was GH₵4000.

According to Adjetey Anang who is also known as ‘Pusher’, he accepted the role in that particular movie not for the financial gain but because he believed in the movie’s message.

He further disclosed that this movie also led him to win his first Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards’ (AMVCA) best actor award.

“I’m talking of 2018. No, I’m not joking. You see it was one that I had believed in the content and that actually brought me my first AMVCA best actor award,” he stated.

The celebrated thespian also gave insights on how to produce movies successfully to captivate the Ghanaian audience. He expressed his concerns about challenges faced in the industry, emphasizing that he has worked on projects with limited budgets but rich content.

Despite issues like lack of character development, he has managed to navigate through them due to his experience.

“Well, lack of character development is an issue but because of my experience I’m able to hold it. It’s an issue but there’s always a way out. More so, the text when you realise there have not been more research because whatever we put out there is going to have implication on the audience,” he added.

Anang’s latest project, ‘The Groomsmen’, is scheduled to premiere on Friday, July 12 at the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra Mall.
