AmeyawDebrah.Com announces ‘Yummy Mummy Of The Month’
So in the spirit of celebrating Mothers’ Days, I have come up with yet another one of my crazy ideas for my lifestyle section, and depending on the response, it may become a regular monthly contest just like ‘GH Hunk & Hottie of the Month’.
So basically, I want us to celebrate a ‘Yummy mummy’ each month – young or old mothers who still look amazing after going through the tough cycle of carrying a baby in their wombs for 9-months, childbirth, breast-feeding and bringing up their children.
If you fit the description or think your mother fits the description, then send photos and details such as name, number of children, occupation or age (I know ladies don’t tell their age hahaha) to ameyawtv@gmail.com.
The winner will get a special treat and gifts from me…wink.

How Can Expert Window Services Increase Your Home’s Security and Safety?
Windows are the eyes to the home, offering us a view of the world outside while allowing light to cascade into our living spaces. However, they are also one of the most vulnerable points of entry to our homes, making the role of expert window services pivotal in enhancing our home’s security and safety, click here for more information.
Enhanced Locking Mechanisms
Upgrading to Superior Locks
The first step in strengthening our windows is to consider their locking mechanisms. The locks that come as standard are often basic and may not provide adequate protection against forced entry. Upgrading to advanced locking systems can be a game-changer. Experts in window services can install locks that engage at multiple points across the window, making them far tougher for intruders to bypass.
The Expert Touch
The fitting of these locks is just as crucial as the locks themselves. A lock is only as good as its installation. A professional service ensures that locks are correctly fitted, aligned, and tested to resist various methods of tampering. This precise attention to detail is something that typically goes beyond the scope of DIY enthusiasts.
Proof of Protection
Illustrating the effectiveness of these enhanced locking systems, statistics and anecdotal evidence from neighbourhood watch groups often highlight a marked decrease in break-ins following the installation of expertly fitted high-grade window locks.
Window Strength and Durability
Choosing the Right Materials
The materials that make up our windows play a critical role in their strength and resilience. Tempered glass, laminated glass, and reinforced frames provide that extra barrier against unwanted guests. Expert window service providers can guide homeowners through the options, advising on the best materials for both security and aesthetic appeal.
Expert Installation: A Critical Factor
Professional installation ensures that windows are not only tough but also correctly fitted within their frames, eliminating any weak points that could be exploited by an intruder. This precision can be the difference between a secure home and a security risk.
Technological Advances in Window Safety
The window industry is not static, and advancements in technology have given rise to new, more resilient materials. Experts stay abreast of these developments, integrating cutting-edge materials into their service offerings to provide top-tier security.
Proper Sealing and Weatherproofing
Sealing Against More Than Just the Elements
A window’s sealant does double duty: it protects against the weather and deters intruders. Expert window services will ensure that all windows are sealed to prevent easy removal from the outside, a common method used by burglars to gain entry.
The Role of Weatherproofing
In addition to keeping out intruders, proper sealing and weatherproofing by a professional can safeguard against extreme weather conditions, which not only pose a threat to the integrity of the window but also to the safety of those inside the home.
Use of Security Films and Laminates
The Invisible Shield
Security films and laminates might not be visible to the eye, but their presence is felt when it matters most. These protective layers, when applied to the glass, can significantly increase a window’s resistance to shattering. They hold the glass together even when forcefully struck, reducing the risk of breakage and entry.
Privacy and Protection Combined
These films can also offer a degree of privacy, with options available that prevent those outsides from peering into the home, without sacrificing natural light. This dual function of protection and privacy adds an extra layer of safety to the home environment.
Expert Application Matters
While there are DIY options available, the application of security films and laminates is best left to the experts. A professional application ensures there are no gaps or bubbles that could compromise the integrity of the film, ensuring that it provides the maximum level of protection.
Integration with Home Security Systems
Smart Windows for a Smarter Home
The modern home is becoming increasingly intelligent, with windows that are no more mere glass panes but integral parts of a connected ecosystem. An expert window service doesn’t just stop at the physical installation but also ensures your windows are compatible with the latest home security systems. From glass-break sensors to automatic lock integration, professionals can incorporate advanced features that sync with your home security network for an added layer of protection.
Seamless Integration
The true value of an expert lies in their ability to marry the old with the new. By ensuring that your window services are fully integrated with your home’s alarm systems, experts create a seamless security network. Windows can now alert homeowners to breakages, attempted breaches, and even be programmed to lock or unlock at certain times, all through smart home technology.
The Evolution of Windows in Home Security
The future is here, with smart windows capable of more than we ever thought possible. Expert window services stay ahead of the curve, offering solutions that adapt to new technologies, ensuring your home’s security system is robust and future-proof.
Emergency Preparedness and Egress Planning
Windows: Your Safe Exit Strategy
In an emergency, a window should be more than a source of daylight; it can be a lifeline. Expert window services play a crucial role in assessing egress compliance, ensuring that windows meet legal safety requirements for size and accessibility to serve as potential emergency exits.
Assessing Egress Compliance
Experts understand the regulations surrounding egress windows and can provide invaluable advice on the location, size, and operation. They ensure that, in the event of a fire or other emergencies, every room has an exit point that can be used quickly and safely by all members of the household.
Operational Checks for Safety
A window that cannot be opened quickly in an emergency is no better than a wall. Part of expert window service is to ensure that not only are egress windows in place but that they are fully operational, with the ability to be opened in a moment’s notice without obstruction.
The Next Steps for Homeowners
With your home now fortified through upgraded locks, durable materials, professional sealing, and integration with a cutting-edge security system, the safety of your home has never been more assured. Yet, it’s the peace of mind that comes with knowing you’ve taken proactive steps to protect your loved ones and your property that is the ultimate return on investment.
Expert window services extend beyond the installation of panes; they offer an ongoing commitment to the security and well-being of your home. With their help, you can rest easy knowing that you’ve left no stone unturned in making your home a safe haven.

Implementing Performance Management Systems: From Evaluation to Excellence
This April, we commence a 5-part series on one of our highly recommended strategies for driving a culture of peak performance – The Evolution of Performance and Impact Measurement. Today, we will discuss the effective implementation of performance management systems.
Designing a performance management system is quite a challenge, given the dynamics of specific organizations. Theoretically, a leader can design a performance management system, the catch has always been the ability to implement it. Just like with many other ideas, performance management systems are as good as the execution. That’s where excellence or mediocrity reveals itself. Leaders must then ascertain the system they have designed relative to the corporate environment they operate in; the noblest intentions can be scuttled by poor implementation.
Here are some steps to implementing an excellent performance management systems.
- Appreciating The Concept of Performance Management
Before a leader creates a management system, he or she must first appreciate the idea that this concept was designed to solve certain challenges and it’s a tool for achieving the corporate goals of an organization. Every leader must embrace both the science and art of creating a model that drives desirable behaviour and productive outcomes. Without this paradigm, there would be a lot of motion without movement in the workplace. Performance therefore can be measured to a reasonable degree of objectivity. Thus, the understanding of this management tool is the foundation for implementing it.
- Understanding The Specific Needs of The Organization
Performance management systems have broad applications but for each organization, there must be a custom playbook. This means that the overarching corporate vision or objectives should be front and centre in developing such systems which is to be followed by a needs assessment. The quantity and quality of human and material resources should be taken into account, the relationship between and among internal and external stakeholders, the metric or standards of success, communication channels, etc. The model adopted must be a direct response to the challenges and aspirations of the organization.
- Set Timelines
Genius thinker, Napoleon Hill, once said that, “a goal is a dream with a deadline.” This mirrors the fact that performance management systems must necessary define timelines for success. In business, it is said that time is money. So producing a hundred bars of chocolate in one month is not the same thing as producing a hundred bars of chocolate in two months. Things like time value of money, inflation, an extra month of expenses and other sunk costs could be the difference in both scenarios. No organization, succeeds or fails in one fell swoop- it happens in instalments. Time management must therefore become an integral part of the performance management system. Without clear timelines, most employees would faff around and still get paid. This is particularly important because in every organization, one person’s output is someone else’s input. To work without timeframes would be to set up an organization to be utterly unproductive.
- Assigning Productivity Monitors
A performance management system is nothing without managers; people who in a hierarchical and concerted manner would check on the work done by their subordinates. The operational word here is hierarchical because even managers need to be managed themselves; it’s effectively a system of check and balances. A performance management system takes into cognizance the power dynamics of an organization on a peer-to-peer level, superior-to-subordinate level and subordinate-to-superior level respectively. Monitoring people isn’t so much about them but about paying attention to what they are doing; that would be micromanaging because the evaluators here are not necessarily in their face all the time but intermittently interrogating actions in a holistic manner.
- Curating The Appropriate Questions
The quality of answers in any scenario is a direct function of the quality of questions. Emotionally intelligent managers know that harvesting the right information from subordinates require clear, relevant and pointed questions. These questions asked during performance reviews should border around employees’ competencies, deliverables, team spirit, areas of improvement, compliance levels and understanding of the organization’s vision. Performance management system is a tool to uncovering data and other information that is useful in making the right decisions that are in the best interest of the organization. Questions trigger certain responses that can be used as touchpoints to gauging the success or otherwise of an organization.
- Developing Collaborative Performance Goals
Whilst every objective should be drawn from an organization’s corporate vision, it should be developed in partnership with the most important stakeholders – employees. Emotionally intelligence requires managers to always get the input and buy-in of their subordinates; even when you have a laid out agenda, you sell those ideas to those that would execute o that they can take ownership of the agenda. The goals should be statutorily SMART – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound. People are generally more motivated to do deliver when they see the success of an organization as their own success

The Importance of Regular Eye Tests: Safeguarding Your Vision and Health
In our fast-paced lives, it’s easy to overlook routine health check-ups, especially when it comes to something as seemingly inconsequential as eye exams. However, the significance of regular eye tests cannot be overstated. Beyond just assessing vision clarity, these tests play a crucial role in safeguarding overall eye health and detecting potential underlying health conditions. Let’s delve into why scheduling regular eye tests should be a priority for everyone.
Detecting Eye Conditions Early
Regular eye tests are not just about getting a new pair of glasses; they are a vital health check for your eyes. These exams can help identify common eye diseases such as glaucoma and cataracts. Glaucoma, for instance, can lead to optic nerve damage and increased eye pressure, while cataracts cause cloudy patches on the lens, leading to blurred vision. Detecting these problems early through eye tests allows for timely treatment, preserving your eyesight and preventing vision deterioration.
Monitoring Overall Health
Beyond eye-specific conditions, eye tests can also reveal underlying health issues like diabetes and high blood pressure. Optometrists can spot changes in your prescription and evaluate the health of your eyes, blood vessels, and optic nerves. These examinations can indicate the presence of various health conditions, including autoimmune diseases, certain cancers, and neurological issues. By identifying these issues early, you can seek appropriate medical attention and prevent potential complications.
Preventing Vision Loss and Blindness
Many eye diseases progress silently, showing no symptoms in their early stages. Regular eye exams are crucial for identifying these conditions before they affect your vision. Conditions like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. By having routine eye tests, you can prevent around 75% of preventable blindness cases and ensure that any eye disease is caught and managed promptly.
Importance for Different Age Groups
Eye tests are essential for individuals of all ages. Children need regular eye exams to ensure healthy vision development, while adults, especially those over 40 or with a family history of eye diseases, should have more frequent screenings. For older adults, age-related vision problems like cataracts and macular degeneration can be identified early through eye tests, allowing for timely intervention and management.
In conclusion, regular eye tests are not just about vision correction; they are a critical component of your overall health maintenance. By prioritizing routine eye exams, you can safeguard your vision, detect potential health issues early, and take proactive steps to preserve your eyesight and well-being. Remember, your eyes are irreplaceable, and caring for them through regular check-ups is a fundamental aspect of self-care and preventive healthcare.
