Theatre: ‘Second Coming of Nkrumah’ rolls out September 22 and 23
The play, titled the Second Coming of Nkrumah, will take the audience through the history of Ghana’s past Presidents and a return of Nkrumah to the present day Ghana and the possible sentiments he would have shared. With the Ghana the Osagyefo dreamed of, and the Ghana we have today, and with a second coming preceded by the rhetoric’s of the famous pink sheets, the boom booms, all die be die, the dum sor dum sors, wawawa, e dey bee kᴈkᴈ, ye be dee keke, kickbacks and woyomization of the economy that shadows the cause of unity or forge a bond to heal this nation, what will possibly be his reaction and what will he do? There will be throwback scenes which will feature Queen Elizabeth and Sir Arden Clarke as well as Madam Fathia Nkrumah. The Presidents the Country has experienced over the years will also be well represented by looks, mannerisms and speech. The writer has found his own way of infusing and representing history with humor. In the lead role of Dr Nkrumah is Ghana’s own versatile stage and motion actor, Ekow Smith Asante who will bring on his wealth of experience to bear. The drama will run to coincide with the birthday anniversary celebration of the Osagyefo and will run twice on both days at 4pm and 7pm. It is a Globe Production project in collaboration with Live fm, Graphic showbiz , National Theatre and the Nkrumah Centenary Committee. Tickets are going for GHC40 at Live FM, Koala Shopping Center, Baatsonaa Shell, Airport Shell and Joy FM.]]>
